Usage And Precautions For Silicon Carbide Ceramic Foam Filters
Mar 12, 2026
Proper use of these filters can significantly reduce casting reject rates and improve process yield; specific guidelines must be followed during installation.
1. Placement
The filter may be positioned horizontally or vertically within the runner, at the base of the sprue, or inside the pouring cup. Care must be taken to prevent the molten metal stream from directly impacting the filter's surface.
The upper surface of the filter should be positioned 0.5–1 mm below the parting line to prevent crushing the sand mold during mold closing.
2. Operational Guidelines
Preheating and Cleaning: Before use, blow away any dust or debris using compressed air; if necessary, preheat the filter to eliminate moisture.
Sealing: Ensure that the interface between the filter and the mold is properly sealed to prevent molten metal from bypassing the filter.
Temperature Control: Do not exceed a maximum operating temperature of 1500°C. Additionally, avoid using titanium-containing nitrogen removal agents, as they may cause damage to the filter.
3. Storage and Transport
Products should be stored in a shock-resistant and moisture-proof environment. When stacking, do not place heavy objects on top of the filters. The typical shelf life is three years.
