Applications of Foam Ceramic Filters

Feb 02, 2026

Foam ceramic filters are suitable for filtering and purifying molten metals from cast iron (gray iron, ductile iron, malleable cast iron), cast steel (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel), and non-ferrous alloys such as aluminum, zinc, and magnesium.

Filters are widely used in the manufacturing of high-end castings in industries such as automotive parts, aerospace, machine tools, hydraulic components, pumps and valves, wind power, diesel engines, and compressors.

In continuous casting and rolling processes, foam ceramic filters are used in tundishes to filter molten steel, improving the purification level of steel billets.

Foam ceramic filters also show promise as a filter medium in environmental protection fields such as water treatment, air purification, and pollution control, as well as as a catalyst carrier in automotive exhaust treatment.
