Primary Functions and Scope of Application for Molten Iron Filters

Feb 20, 2026

The primary objective of utilizing filtration screens is to purify the molten iron, thereby enhancing the quality of the final castings.

1. Filtration and Purification: Effectively intercepts non-metallic impurities - such as oxide inclusions, slag, and molding sand - present in the molten iron, thereby reducing defects in the castings such as slag inclusions and porosity.

2. Performance Enhancement: By minimizing turbulence in the molten iron and refining the grain structure, the filters improve the castings' tensile strength, elongation, and overall mechanical properties, while simultaneously lowering the scrap rate.

3. Applicable Castings: Widely utilized in the casting production of gray cast iron, ductile iron, and small-scale steel castings; they are particularly well-suited for components requiring stringent internal quality standards.
